Variations On A Theme is published! I wasn't able to post it here earlier because other things in life took precedence over blogging this past week. What a thrill it was to hold copies of it in my hand! The variety of stories in this anthology is amazing, given that all of them are supposed to have been inspired from the same two tales.
If you haven't read got a copy, do go to Amazon and get one, or eight.
So the above is the "sweet" part of the title of this post.
Today, I learned that The Literary Lab will not continue as an active blog. Davin, Michelle, and Scott will keep it available as a static, meaning anyone can read their archived posts.
Part of me hopes that it's an April Fool's prank --although I think I may just go wring their individual necks if that's the case--but part of me recognizes that every good thing must come to an end. I will miss the thought-provoking posts, lively interaction among their loyal readers, and sublime silliness that can happen in the comments section. I wish them the best.
And that, was the bitter part of the post.
Maybe I should have titled my post "dark chocolate" today.

We'll miss the conversations that took place in the comments, but the three of us, to be quite honest, were having a really hard time thinking of anything to post about without just repeating things we've already said. It threatened to become an unpleasant obligation instead of something fun, so we figured it was time to stop.
I'm glad we had the opportunity to put together three good anthologies, and I'm glad I had the chance to meet a lot of good writers like you, but I'm also glad that I can just focus on my own stuff now.
The only constant is change... sigh. Love the cover of the book!
Just bought it! It's so sad that they're closing down... Congratulations again, Yat-Yee!
Yat-Yee,
As I was writing the last Lit Lab post, I was oh-so-tempted to include a list of people who have been so crucial to making the blog fun. I decided against it because I was fairly sure I'd forget someone, and I wanted to avoid the same bad press I got on from Oscar speech. At any rate, if that list was up, you would have definitely been on it. Thanks for stopping by as much as you did!
It is sad they are closing down, but it was quite wonderful. Congratulations on being in that beautiful anthology!
Scott: I completely understand. To start something because it seemed like it would be interesting and fun, then to have it indeed become something meaningful is a great thing. To push it further, to risk resentment and boredom would make it less so.
I am so glad I finally got my act together for this anthology, having missed the deadlines for both earlier ones, and have my name be associated with the Lit Lab.
Since I'm already a reader of Six Words, I'll be able to follow along your "stuff."
Bish: Ain't that the truth. I used to welcome change with arms that are much more open and I think i have become stodgy in my older age. Don't like changes as much, but I know they are necessary. And good, sometimes.
Yes, that cover is perfect for the anthology, given its premise.
Nandini: Thanks! I think you will enjoy the stories. Hope you like mine!
Davin: Thank you so much. I am touched to be included in your mental list. I felt very much at home at your blog and count it as one of the best things that starting my blog has given me.
It must be thrilling to mull and explore new possibilities. All best.
(And yes, that Oscar debaucle will be hard to live down, Davin. Better lie low for a while. )
Tricia: Thanks for stopping by. I miss interacting with you.
Congratulations on being in the anthology.
Thanks, Laoch!
